Announcement of date of JEE-2009 for admission to 1st Year of3 -Year B.Sc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration for 2009-10

Total No. of seats available on all India basis – 5700 (approx.)

National Council for Hotel Management shall hold all India Joint Entrance Examination on 9th May 2009 (2nd Saturday) 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. for admission to 1st Year of 3-Year B.Sc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration in the affiliated Institute of Hotel Management for the 2008-09 academic session.

ABOUT THE B.Sc. HOSPITALITY & HOTEL ADMINISTRATION PROGRAMME

The Bachelor of Science programme in Hospitality and Hotel Administration is offered jointly by the National Council for Hotel Management and the Indira Gandhi National Open University. The Three-Year programme equips students with all the required skills, knowledge and attitude to efficiently discharge supervisory responsibilities in the Hospitality sector. The programme also involves in-depth laboratory work for students to acquire required knowledge and skills standards in the operational areas of Food Production, Food and Beverage Service, Front Office Operation and House Keeping and providing managerial inputs in Hotel Accountancy, Food Safety and Quality, Human Resource Management, Facility Planning, Financial Management, Strategic Management, Tourism Marketing and Tourism Management.
NCHMCT JEE 2009 ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

* Minimum Qualification(10+2 or its equivalent) - Should have passed +2 stage of 10+2 stream or equivalent examination in any stream with English as one of the
subjects. Candidates appearing in +2 or equivalent examination in 2009 can also apply.
* Age limit22 years as on 1st July, 2009 in case of General, OBC and PH categories and 25 years as on 1st July 2009
for SC and ST categories.
* Physical fitness(physical fitness certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner)

Down Loaded Application Form duly filled should be sent by Registered Post / Speed Post only to the above given address enclosing therewith requisite fee of Rs.850/- for General/ OBC categories and Rs.450/- for SC/ST/PH categories through Demand Draft / Pay Order drawn in favour of National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, payable at Noida. The down loaded Application without requisite fee shall be invalid. The last date for sending downloaded Application Form is 27th March, 2009.

Admission shall be based on marks obtained by the candidate in All India (Written Test) JEE-examination to be held on May 9th, 2009. Allotment of Institute shall strictly be in order or merit & rank. No group discussions or personal interviews are involved in this admission process.

Students graduating from established institutes of hotel management can join the railways, airlines, shipping lines in their catering services, or the defence sector. The main areas of work in a hotel are as follows

1. General Operations: The main responsibilities of this department include supervision, co-ordination and administration of all other departments as well as overall financial control.

2. Front Office: It is the centre of all activities. Major tasks performed here include: providing information, making room reservations and taking care of check-ins and check-outs, besides the duties performed by the Personnel Department of any company.

3. Sales & Marketing: This department keeps in touch with travel agents and tour operators as well as other potential corporate clients in order to sell hotel facilities. This department also normally handles Advertising and Public Relations.

4. Food & Beverage: This department is the hub of the hotel industry and is responsible for all the food that is prepared and served in the hotel.

5. House Keeping: The main function of the housekeeping department is to make sure that all rooms are kept in order and all the needs of the guests are met.


Remunerations


The emoluments vary between the different organizations which employ them. Minimum monthly emoluments are approximately Rs. 7500-Rs 10000 depending upon factors such as the category of employing hotel, institute from where the student graduated, city of location, etc.
