MADHYAMIK, WEST BENGAL BOARD OF SECONDARY EDUCATION, WBBSE, MADHYAMIK RESULT 2008, MADHYAMIK RESULTS

The results of Madhyamik Pariksha 2008, both regular and external, will be announced on May 28 at 9 am. Candidates will also receive marksheets from the school the same day.

http://www.wbgov.com/e-gov/English/ExamResult/Madhyamik/mikIndividualResult.asp

Madhyamik is a centralised examination conducted by West Bengal Board of Secondary Education at the end of 10th standard of school. It is the most popular 10th standard examinations in India. More than 7,50,000 (0.75 Million) students took the exam in 2006 and the number increases substantially every year. Unfortunately, there was a drop of over 1 lakh students in 2007. A wide range of reasons varying from dropouts to failure in Class 9 has been suggested by the Board. Compulsory subjects are First Language, Second Language, Physical Science (physics and chemistry), Life Science, Mathematics, History and Geography.

Of these First Language has two papers of 90 marks each, all others have 1 paper each of 90 marks except Second Language and Mathematics, which have 1 paper each of 100 marks. In addition, corresponding to each paper worth 90 (rather than the full 100) marks, the school is allocated 10 marks for internal evaluation. One exception is when the examinees does not take the exam from any school, in which case there are 10 extra marks in the written papers.

There is also an optional additional subject that can be chosen from those offered by the school among a huge selection allowed by the Board. The most common choice is Work Education + Physical Education. Other popular choices include Mechanics (the almost universal choice of high-scoring students) and Book keeping (common among middle range students). Though the subject is optional, very few students fail to take it. If the marks obtained in the additional subject is more than 34, 34 marks is deducted and the rest is added to the Grand Total marks. For marks equal or lesser than 34, no marks are added to the Grand Total. Despite the presence of this subject, percentage totals are calculated in 800 and not 900 marks, thus offering the chance to score more than 100% marks though this has not been realised yet.

Efforts are going on to calibrate the syllabus with the much much easier (but broader, including more topics but lacking in depth) national curriculum offered by the central boards ICSE and CBSE. There have been suggestions that the Madhyamik should be taken on the syllabus of Class 10 only as introduced in the Higher Secondary. However no concrete decision has been made and the students of the current year (2007) are giving it like before, on the syllabi of both classes 9 and 10.

For Madhyamik 2007, the whole syllabus for all the subjects have been changed to lessen the load on the students. There has both been some additions and some trimming done to all the subjects.

Vivek Korde, FACE President, said "Since the last two years, all pharmacy colleges are conducting their own entrance tests and are admitting students on the basis of these results."

A total of 36 private colleges are operating in Maharashtra which offer 909 seats in Master's in Pharmacy courses. For two years now, all pharmacy students have been appearing for the all-India Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) along with the state-conducted CET in association with the Private Pharmacy colleges.

Many students also appear for other tests held at deemed universities like Narsee Monjee and government-aided colleges including the National Institute of Pharmacy Education and Research.

Sonography is that branch of radiography, which is used for accurate diagnosis of disease. It is a diagnostic medical procedure that involves the use of high frequency sound waves (ultrasound) to create dynamic visual images of tissues, organs or blood flow inside the body. Online MBA Degree

Pursuing an MBA degree has become easier now as various institutes and organizations have started offering online MBA courses in India. Online MBA degrees have primarily captured the attention of the working professionals who could not pursue a regular MBA course due to various reasons.

The main advantage of the online MBA courses is that candidates can get all the study materials without going to an institute. Moreover, most of the organizations providing online MBA courses in India make it a point to provide regular classes, which the students can attend from the comfort of their home.

Thus, regular interaction with the faculty members through various mediums of communication is made possible for the students who want to pursue online MBA education in India.
And even if you miss the class, the study material would always be available. However online MBA courses are not relatively cheaper than the regular courses. The cost of the course can be as high as the regular course or even more in some cases. As face-to-face interaction is not always possible in online education programmes, it is very important to attend the orientation programme to understand the course content and the method of teaching.

Although it is possible to pursue online MBA courses from any where in the world, the introduction of online courses by some of the premier Management institutes has made online MBA education very popular in India. Reputed institutes like Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad, Indian Institute of Technology, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade are today offering online MBA courses in India.

On this page, we have tried to provide you the details of all the online MBA courses that are available in India. However if you come across any flaw in the information about the online MBA course in India, do write to us. We would appreciate any such move that would improve the quality of the site.

Online Degree Courses

Online learning is the term applied for computer-enhanced learning. It is related to the field of advanced learning technology. It can be one good option for pursuing education for those who can’t regularly attend the courses. You can attend the course from the place you live. Main advantage of online education is the flexibility of timing. One can get online education at bachelors, masters and Ph.D levels. However online degree courses in India are not so popular in India as they are in other advanced countries of the world. But it can be expected that things will soon change in favor of online education with further development of the Indian economy and large-scale computer penetration.
Scope of online degree courses in India

In India, online education is yet in the primary stage. However, it is constantly progressing, with special reference to big cities. Most of the reputed institutes in India are offering online courses. Some of the online education portals provide mock tests for different competitive exams and tutorials for school students. The spread of online degree courses is progressing continuously in India.

Some of the online degree courses available for Indian students:

The main advantage of online degree courses is that it can bridge the distance and thus enable a student to pursue a course from an institute that is outside his or her town, state or even country without really being present there all the time. As quite a good number of reputed institutes admit international students to their online courses, it has become very easy for Indian students to pursue online degree courses. The University of Liverpool and University of phoenix are some such institutes. The good news for Indian students is that some of the best institutes in India like the IIM Ahmedabad, IIT Delhi and Indian Institute of Foreign Trade has taken the lead to offer online MBA courses in India. Therefore it can be expected that other institutes would soon follow suit.

Anna University to close admissions on May 26

CBSE students who wish to apply for engineering admissions in the State could be in for a busy — and stressful weekend — on May 24 and 25.

With their Class XII board examination results expected around that time, and Anna University closing its applications on Monday, May 26, they will be racing to meet the deadline.

Sources in the CBSE said the results were likely to be out during the last week of May.

Last year, the Class XII results for Ajmer and Chennai regions were declared on May 23.

Anna University officials involved in the admission process say that the dates may be extended after discussions with the State government and the CBSE.

“We will make sure there are no problems for students …Even State Board schools will only be giving mark sheets on May 21, so we may have to extend dates,” said an official.

The original dates for submitting applications had been announced after consultation with the State Board officials.

“They expected to declare results by May 10, so we set the dates as May 10 to 16. We have not had any interaction with the CBSE,” said an official.

Gaurav Sood of Doon School, Dehradun has scored 99 per cent marks in ISC exams.

North India has a pass percentage of 97.55, which is lowest amongst all four regions. East India has got 97.72 percentage, West India got 99.38 percentage and South India 99.22 percentage.

In ICSE, girls have scored 98.63 pass percentage and boys have scored 97.57 percentage.

Thousands of students across India are flocking to centres to check their results.

The 13 lakh students who took the Class X and Class XII examinations conducted by the state and central boards won’t know how well or badly they have fared until after the ballot test for panchayat candidates.

Results of all six board examinations — Madhyamik, Higher Secondary, ICSE, ISC and CBSE X and XII — will be declared between May 20 and June 8, though none of the boards has announced the exact dates. The results of the panchayat elections will be out on May 21.

Sources in the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, which conducts the Madhyamik examination, said they hoped to declare the results latest by May 30.

Nearly 7.5 lakh students took the test this year. The Higher Secondary board has set June 8 as the target.

The Madhyamik board had planned to declare the results by the third week of this month. “We realised later that the results would not be ready before May 28. But we will definitely not stretch it beyond May 30,” a senior official said.

The panchayat elections delayed the evaluation process, with teachers being deployed as polling officers.

The Delhi-based Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations, which conducts the ICSE and ISC examinations, and the Central Board of Secondary Education will declare their results any day after May 20. About 400 schools in Calcutta and the districts are affiliated to the central boards and almost a lakh students sat for the four examinations this year.

“The process of tabulating the results of ICSE and ISC 2008 is in full swing. We are taking all possible steps to ensure that the students get to know their results in time,” Gerry Arathoon, the additional secretary and officiating chief executive of the ICSE/ISC board said.

Sources in CBSE-affiliated schools in the city confirmed receiving information from the Delhi board that the results would be out after May 20.

An apex court ruling has made it mandatory for every board to declare the results of the Class XII exams latest by June 10 every year.

According to the Council for The Indian School Certificate Examinations, the results for class 10th will be announced after May 15th. This is written on the official website of the board, where it is mentioned that you can check this site after May 15, for further information on results. The official website address of the Council for The Indian School Certificate Examinations is cisce.org. The students who have appeared in the ICSE examinations this year merely need to type in their role numbers to get the results when they are announced.

NURSING - A Paying Career Option

When great medical feats are performed, it is the doctors who walk away with all the credit. When patients are cured of life-threatening diseases, it is the doctors who get all the limelight.

But no great medical feat can be achieved, nor can patients be cured of diseases without the services of a Nurse. Nurses comprise that part of the medical community who rarely come to limelight for doing their work. But the contribution of Nurses to the sick and the infirm people is not less than that of doctors. It is the Nurses who render the caring band and the warm hear to patients, in order to help them get rid of their illnesses. The profession is a noble one and one who becomes a Nurse gets into the footsteps of Florence Nightingale. The prospect of good money is also assured as the demand for trained Nurses is on the rise.

The profession of Nursing involves taking care of the sick and the infirm people. Though there is great disparity in the pay, position and benefits between the doctors and nurses, they are the cogs in the same medical wheel. Initially, Nurses are given the task of the bedside care of patients. As one gains seniority, one specialises in the management of patients in a particular section like Psychiatry, Pediatrics, Cardiology, etc.
One requires specialized skills to work in these sections.

Hence, qualities like patience, perseverance, responsibility and punctuality are required for one who in inclined to follow the profession of Nursing. Organizational skills, adaptability and the ability to make observations and to arrive at decisions rapidly and qualities, which are needed to be cultivated in order to be successful in this profession. Some colleges like Jamia Hamdard also ask students to have the ability to communicate in Urdu/Hindi. There, is a combined entrance exam for Nursing along with medical, dental and pharmacy in some States of India.

A large number of Nursing schools, run by the various State governments in hospital campuses, also offer a Diploma course in Nursing. The three-year Diploma course includes generic nursing and midwifery. Such a diploma programme is also offered by some private organizations.

The Government has made provisions for specialisation in the field of Psychiatric Nursing, Neo-natal Nursing, Public Health Nursing, etc., through a Ph.D. programme. Industrial Nursing is another area of specialization where one assists industrial physicians to take preventive measures in order to avoid any untoward mishaps. An Industrial Nurse also provides first-aid during accidents inside the industrial premises.

Prospects

Once the course is completed one can join as Staff Nurse in hospitals, clinics and nursing homes, irrespective of whether one has done the B.Sc. or the Diploma programme. The real difference is in the number of increments and the duration between the promotions. The nurses with a B.Sc. Degree get two extra increments and they also get promoted faster. After five years of work experience, State hospitals often sponsor the interested students for the M.Sc. course in nursing.

There is a great demand for trained nurses, specially in the rural areas. The global norm followed by most advanced countries to keep an ideal doctor-nurse ratio is at 1 : 3. One can get employed as a Nurse in school, health departments, orphanages, old age homes, defence, industrial houses etc. One can also join the health department of Railways or other public sector medical departments. There is also the options of joining a training institute as an educator .

Ample job opportunities for Nurses are also available abroad. There is a great demand for Nurses in the UK , the US and the Middle East where a Nurse gets paid more very handsomely.

Remuneration

Nurses generally get a starting salary in the range of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 12, 000 per month. In Government hospitals, the Government gives certain allowances like uniform allowance, house rent allowance, washing allowance, Government quarters and free medical treatment. In the private sector, the remuneration is at times lower than that offered in Government orgainsations. One can expect a high salary when a Nurse gets specialised in a particular field. The salary of a Nurse increases with experience in the sector.
